Issue W-29 — Midsummer Markdowns Jul 06, 2026 — 28 days
Midsummer runs four weeks. Most of it is noise.
The widest window on the 2026 ledger is also the least urgent. Twenty-eight days is long enough that nothing forces a decision until the final weekend — which is exactly when the useful part arrives.
W-29 opened on July 6 and closes at the end of August 2. That is the longest span we have on record this year, and it behaves the way long windows always do: a loud first week, three quiet ones, then a sharp last few days as merchants clear what did not move. If you have been watching since it opened and nothing has looked worth it, you have not missed anything. You have simply been reading the middle.
Our advice on windows this wide is the same every year. Note what you actually want in week one, ignore the window entirely through the middle, and look again in the last four days. The narrower the remaining span, the more honest the pricing tends to get.
Where the window stands today
Four days remain. Seasonal stock is the part still moving — summer clothing, outdoor and garden items, and travel goods that merchants would rather not carry into autumn. Categories tied to the back-to-school run have already started holding their prices, because W-34 opens on August 18 and there is no reason to discount twice in three weeks.

Terms, briefly
The reference above works while W-29 is open and stops at the end of August 2, 2026. It applies to the seasonal categories named in this issue, one use per customer, and it does not stack with a merchant’s own standing discounts. Availability is the merchant’s to set, not ours — we record the dates and terms as published, and where a window carries a referral arrangement for this desk, that is disclosed here. Full conditions sit with the merchant. Our own rules are in the terms of use.
